We live in interesting times as a nation, and this is made more difficult by the ever-changing nature of the COVID-19 and our necessary response to it both personally and within our businesses.

We, at the Export Council of Australia (ECA), offer our reassurance to members and supporters that we stand ready to work with you now and in the months ahead.

ECA has introduced a suite of tools and resources to help you stay informed and assist you determine the best path forward for your business.

These tools and resources include:

  • COVID-19 Eight-episode Podcast Series – Featuring key practical information for businesses from the ECA and leaders across the country.
  • COVID-19 Checklist for businesses – To help make sense of all the information disseminated on what businesses should do in a time of crisis, we’ve compiled this checklist of the 10 best points of advice we’ve seen from across the world. Download the pdf here and use it to check your own business.
  • Online Training – Critically reviewing your business and upskilling at this time will be important to help you chart the best course forward. The  ECA has launched a dedicated COVID-19 online training Road to Recovery that will assist your business with decision making and skills required through this period.

Freight and Education Hub project is nearing completion Dianne Tipping

The Export Council of Australia (ECA) and Darwin International Airport (DIA) are proud to announce that the infrastructure project involving the development of the Darwin International Airport’s Freight and Education Hub is nearing completion.

This multi-user enabling infrastructure investment involves the development of an approximate $15.6 million Freight and Education Hub. The Hub will enable expanded on-airport freight which will improve the sustainability and profitability of existing international and domestic passenger services and make proposed new direct international services more economically viable and attractive.

Up until late March Cairns-based mineral processing service provider International Mill Relines (IMR) had a crew destined to complete work in PNG and $30,000 worth of international flights booked. Within days of the government announcing travel restrictions, “business as usual” went to zero overnight.

Since inception in 2014, IMR has been a born-global business, with 85 percent of business servicing some of South East Asia’s largest producers of gold and copper which are accountable for the countries’ highest GDP.
